Gong Maolai, founder of the Department of Medical Aesthetics at Qilu Hospital and associate chief physician. He has devoted himself to clinical research in medical aesthetics for thirty years and has experience with more than 30,000 surgical cases. He is affectionately called by colleagues and patients ‘the top aesthetic and plastic surgery surgeon at Qilu Hospital’. Born in 1966, he graduated from the Plastic Surgery specialty of the Department of Clinical Medicine at Shandong Medical University in 1989, and in the same year joined the Department of Burns and Plastic Surgery at the Affiliated Hospital of Shandong Medical University. During his years in the Department of Burns and Plastic Surgery, Dr. Gong found in communication with patients that, as people's living standards improved, awareness of beauty was gradually awakening, and patients' demands for aesthetic surgery were constantly increasing. He therefore began, in his spare time, to devote himself to research on facial plastic surgery and minimally invasive aesthetic procedures. In 1999, he established the Department of Medical Aesthetics within Qilu Hospital of Shandong University and served as its director.
